September 30 (56)

This is a shirt from the Mountain Man Triathlon (1/2 Ironman distance) that I did as a team with Jodi (swimmer) and David (biker) on September 29, 1996. It was our first of a number of victories in the team triathlon division. In fact, we are still undefeated (our most recent victory was this summer). Team Strokin', Stokin', & Smokin' rocks!

September 29 (55)

Here's a shirt from a race I did six years ago yesterday (September 22, 2002).  It was a 5K race in Quince Orchard Park, MD; another race sponsored by the "Two Sooz".

September 28 (54)

Here's a shirt from a running event from this weekend.  It was called the Ragnar Relay -- a 180+ mile relay with 12 people.  It took us about 26 1/2 hours.  It was tons of fun although the rain made it wet and soggy.

September 27 (53)

On this date back in 1992 I did a race in Chicago called the Steeple Chase.  It was a five mile race with hay bales to jump over and water pits to go through.  If it looks like I've been awake for the last 36 hours tomorrow's shirt will explain why.

September 26 (52)

This is a University of Virginia rowing shirt.  Jodi did some rowing there and I'm a fan.  I especially like this shirt because of the cool crew slogan on the back `Our wake.  Your funeral.'

September 25 (51)

Here's another shirt I got from Kathy; this one is from
the Fifa World Cup in Korea 2002.

September 24 (50)

On this date back in 2000 I ran a 5K in Gaithersburg, MD, sponsored by Re/Max Realty Group and of course our favorite Susy the Clown.

September 23 (49)

Here's a cool shirt that Kathy gave to me.  It's from Portugal.

September 22 (48)

Here's a shirt from the Coors Light Biathlon Series race I did in Chicago on September 23, 1990.  This has also been one of my favorite shirts; it is pretty threadbare in the back and ragged around the edges.

September 21 (47)

Here's a shirt from a run Jodi and I did this morning: the 'Back to School Classic' 8K race.   It's a hilly course but the last mile is downhill.  Lots of fan support too!

September 20 (46)

Here's a shirt from the 2003 AVS run which was held in Baltimore.  I did not run the race, but did help Kathy -- the race director -- design and set up the course.  We made sure to put in some good hills!

September 19 (45)

On this date back in 1999 Jodi and I did the MS Challenge Half Marathon in Washington, D.C.  A keen eye will note that this is first long-sleeve t-shirt appearing on the blog.

September 18 (44)

On this date back in 1994 I ran the 'Chariots of Fire' half marathon relay (with a team of 6 ... Kristin and Neil were part of the team) in Cambridge.  This is the actual race shirt (see yesterday's post for the team shirt).   I think this is my only international race shirt.

September 17 (43)

Here's a shirt from a team half marathon I ran in Cambridge, England in 1994.  At least some of the team was from Robson Rhodes which explains the shirt.

September 16 (42)

Here's another Northern Central Trail 20 miler shirt from 2007 (I ran a PR that year!!).  It looks a lot like the shirt on September 4 but its a different shirt.  On the back its got a cool map of the course.

September 15 (41)

Here's a shirt from a bike ride I did up in Havre de Grace, MD in mid September 2002.  The pink writing says 'bike4breastcancer'.

September 14 (40)

Since we went to today's Orioles - Twins game for a St. Olaf alumni function it seemed appropriate to pull out some Ole gear.  This is a shirt I got a few years ago from Coach after attending a track reunion.  It's high on my list of favorites -- I wear it proudly to races whenever possible.

September 13 (39)

Here's the last in the series of 'Defeat of Jesse James Days Run' t-shirts.  This one I did on today's date back in 1987.

September 12 (38)

Here's 'Defeat of Jesse James Days' part 3.  Actually, this is
from 1986, the first year I did the race.  In fact, I believe this was my first ever (just running) road race!

September 11 (37)

Obviously, today's date is known now from tragic events in 2001. This shirt comes from a minor event by comparison on the same date in 1988; another 'Defeat of Jesse James Days Run'.

September 10 (36)

On this date back in 1989 I ran the 'Defeat of Jesse James Days' 15K race in Northfield, MN.  It was the fourth time I did that race so there will be a few more such shirts coming up.

September 9 (35)

This is a shirt from my first half ironman triathlon (September 10, 1995).  It was a 'Brad' race up in Boonsboro, MD called the Mountain Man because of the super hilly bike and run courses.

September 8 (34)

Today's shirt helps kick off the Vikings season tonight against the Packers.  In order to show support for the Vikes, you should wear purple and refrain from eating cheese.

September 7 (33)

Jodi and I did the Delaware Diamond Triathlon (sprint version today).  The water was not quite so clear as the White Lake Triathlon swim.   However, it was a fun race, especially since Lindsay, David and Rachelle came out to watch!   Hurricane Hanna had cleared out and we had awesome weather.

Saturday, September 6, 2008

September 6 (32)

On this date back in 1997, Jodi and I did the White Lake Triathlon.   The swim is great because the lake is very clear -- you can watch the bottom move by as you swim!

September 5 (31)

Here's a shirt for the dogs.  Jodi got me this shirt from The Barking Dog!  WOOF!!!

Thursday, September 4, 2008

September 4 (30)

On this date in 2005 I ran the Charm City 20 miler.  It's like a marathon but without the last ugly 6.2 miles.

September 3 (29)

The Chaptico Classic is another race to do more than once.  Here is t-shirt from 2006.

Tuesday, September 2, 2008

September 2 (28)

Even though its September, I still have a couple late August t-shirts.  This one is from the Chaptico Classic in 2005.

September 1 (27)

With Louisiana and Hurricane Gustav on my mind, today's shirt is NOLA.  This is a shirt I got from Jodi when she was in New Orleans.
