Despite 23.1 racing miles this weekend (Kentlands 5K and the Charm City 20 miler) I got shut out in the new t-shirt category.  No worries ... I still have my Kentlands 5K shirt from 2002!

On this date back in 1998 Jodi and I did the Richmond Triathlon (benefitting the Make a Wish Foundation).  The original inspiration for me to do a triathlon came from my friend Tim, who back in the early 80s (I think) was the first person I knew to ever do one (this was back before bike helmets were standard - although they were required for the triathlon -- so Tim ended up doing the bike leg wearing a hockey helmet).  Today is a big day for Tim and family since it is John's last day of three years of A.L.L. chemo treatment.   Way to go John!!

Here's an old-school t-shirt from a 100 mile bike ride I did 21 years ago tomorrow.   The ride was in Northfield, MN.

Some races are so good that you have to do them more than once!  The Chicago Sun-Times triathlon is one of them (perhaps I liked the t-shirt better than the race because after the 1991 race I wrote a comment in my training log `toughest swim ever').  This shirt is from the race in 1992 (August 23, 1992 to be exact).

Here's another late August triathlon shirt from the Chicago Sun Times triathlon (August 25, 1991 -- two days and 17 years ago).   Swim in Lake Michigan, ride on Lake Shore Drive and run around Soldier Field.   One of the sponsors was Mrs. T's Pierogies -- yum!

Here's another t-shirt from an August triathlon; the Turtleman Triathlon (Shoreview, MN) from 1989.  A red Schwinn Traveler was the bike of choice - I've still got the bike as well but the t-shirt is currently in better shape than the bike.

As the shirt says, Jodi did the IronGirl triathlon yesterday.  It was her fastest IG time (in part due to the excellent sherpa support).

Here's a shirt Jodi had made for me.  Jodi did the Iron Girl triathlon this morning and I was her sherpa to help transport gear to and from the transition area and to provide overall logistical support.    However, as the back indicates, `short rope not included'.  Jodi has a similar shirt that says `dan's sherpa' with `will work for coffee' on the back.

p.s. This is dan 2.0 with a new haircut.

Here's a new shirt I got from Amy.  It came packed to about the size of a deck of cards.  It also came with a book showing some cool ideas about what you can do with your old t-shirts (the book did not mention a 365 day blog site with a different t-shirt for each day!).

Here's a semi old school t-shirt.  Back in college one of my housemates tried to draw a hippo with enough success that we decided to make a t-shirt out of it.  The shirt was one of my favorites and has incurred some wear and tear; it's SPF zero in a few places on the back!
